My Tutor Friend (Korean Movie)

Casts:-
Kim Ha Neul- Choi Su Wan (Romance/Ice Rain/Dead Friend)
Kwon Sang Woo-Kim Ji Hoon(Into The Sun/Stairway To Heaven/Volcano High)

Choi Su Wan comes from a poor background. Hence, she is forced to tutor high school students in order to pay her university fees although she doesn’t like teaching. But the high school students seem to be more interested in her than paying attention to their
studies. Then Su Wan’s mother recommended her to tutor a rich friend’s son. This when the story starts......

Kim Ji Hoon, the son of a rich man was 21 years old which was same age as Su Wan. Due to his poor academic performance, he is doing his third time in form six(actually form six are for people at the age of 19 in Korea)and hasn’t improve in his though his parents had employ many tutors and now, its Su Wan turn to tutor him.

Ji Hoon has a very bad attitude. He fights in school and bashes other gangsters who are not so good in fighting. So he is famous among the gangsters as an enemy and famous among young girls as a cool and cute guy. Many gangsters tried to fight with him but ended up with broken arms. Su Wan‘s first encounter with him was terrible. She ventured into his room admiring how beautiful and big was his room. And she stood right in front of the door when he suddenly rushes back into the room and the door banged her head hard. Furious, she went to the place where he sat at the sofa and pushed his head hard and started scolding him for being violent and he ignored her.

Ji Hoon told her she was same age as him and said that many teachers left in frustration and couldn’t stand teaching him. But, Su Wan was determined not to give up. When he knew that she was same age as him, he has lesser respect for her. He often doesn’t turn up for class and labels her ‘country chick.’ Su Wan also cannot stand his smoking attitude. He pinches her cheek. Teaching him was risky as he has a girlfriend that gets jealous because of Su Wan tutoring him and often bullies her with the help of her gang of friends.
After she helps him to heal his wound, he starts to treat her better and followed by falling in love for her.........

Ending....
Ji Hoon finally passes his form six thanks to his tutor. Now its his younger brother’s turn to be tutored. And of course the guy gets the girl.

Kim Ha Neul as Choi Su Wan

I can consider this my first time seeing her acting because I never really watched Romance. Her acting was great. Her crying skills were good. In Romance, the series was having the same theme as this movie: Teacher and student relationship. She suited her character well because of her looks. She also acted with two Korean ‘famous among young girls’ actors: Kim Jae Won and Kwon Sang Woo with the same character as the teacher that the student fell in love with. But the combination of Kwon Sang Woo and Kim Ha Neul were much better.
Rating: 9.9/10

Kwon Sang Woo – Kim Ji Hoon.

This isn’t my first time seeing Kwon Sang Woo acting. I saw him acting for the first time in Stairway to Heaven with Choi Ji Woo. His expressions were meant to be the cute cool guy here not a sad guy. I can honestly say that he was ‘depending’ his face to act his character. There isn’t much for him to express in this movie. I think many girls are flattered with his cute face and. I think that was one of the minor reasons why this movie was a great success. Don’t blame the actor for being quite expressionless.... blame the script.
Rating: 8.0/10

Thoughts:-
I became very interested in the movie after reading the synopsis and the movie didn’t let me down. I kept on laughing when I saw the funny scenes. Unlike Windstruck, I find this movie very entertaining the both actor and actress were cute as a couple. For some reasons, I came across people with different comments on Kwon Sang Woo. When I enter his fan site, their whish list no.1 was to meet him. Some say that he was unattractive instead, saying the actor that acted as his father was cute.(Very rare..)

The idea of a comedy movie is common the guy goes with the girl at last. But this movie is satisfying because is VERY funny......

Special Scenes:-

(a)Su Wan wrapping up Ji Hoon’s wound.
(b)Su Wan stuffs the cigarette into his nose when he wants to smoke during the tuition lessons
(c) Su Wan was forced dancing in the parade when Ji Hoon passed his exam.
(d)Ji Hoon fighting with gangsters
(e)Su Wan pretending to be Ji Hoon’s girlfriend when his girlfriend calls his hand phone when he was bathing.
(f)Ji Hoon getting jealous when the pastor calls Su Wan because she was so in love with him.
(g)Ji Hoon going to the orphanage to see peep at Su Wan and the pastor.
(h) Ji Hoon being punched by Su Wan.

I would recommend this movie to...
Korean movie fans who are searching for a funny, action, romantic movie to watch. And, of course ALL Kwon Sang Woo and Kim Ha Neul’s fans.

Windstruck (Korean movie)

Cast:-
Ko Myung Woo-Jang Hyuk (Please Teach Me English)
Yeo Kyeong Jin-Jeon Ji Hyun (My Sassy Girl)
Dierector: Kwak Jae Young
Special appearance by: Cha Tae Hyun (The First Love of a Royal Prince)

This story starts when Kyeong Jin a police woman chases a snatch theft. She made a mistake and catches a young school teacher named Myung Woo who teaches physics. Myung Woo and Kyeong Jin stayed in the same apartment because Myung Woo was supposed to go patrolling in pairs with Kyeong Jin. Soon this two people fell in love with each other.

Tragedy starts.....

While Myung Woo was waiting for Kyeong Jin one evening, he called her because he was waiting too long. Kyeong Jin was chasing a gangster, she told him that she was chasing a bad guy and it was too dangerous and told him not to come and find her. Then he wanted to find her because it was dangerous. He manage to find her but was shot by a gun at his chest. Kyeong Jin panic because he was shot and he was struggling. The ambulance came too late. When he reached the hospital, he was dead. Kyeong Jin became depressed. She tried to kill herself many times, although she didn’t succeed to kill herself she didn’t cared about dying. It was as if that Myung Woo was protecting her from getting killed.

Ending.....
She managed to see Myung Woo for the last time on the 49th day of his death. She wanted to go to heaven with him but he told her to continue living. The next day, she went to the counter and asked for the book that Myung Woo gave her and she saw his school photo. In the book, it is written that he will see her today. Then she quickly ran to the LRT and saw a guy standing on a platform.

Special Scenes:
(a) When Kyeong Jin meet Myung Woo on the 49th day of his death.(very sad)
(b) While Kyeong Jin was trying to kill herself by jumping down the building suddenly two teenagers who ran away from home appeared and asked for money.(quite funny scene)
(c) The first time Kyeong Jin tried to kill herself by jumping down the building. She landed on the giant hand balloon and fell down the roof, fortunately, safe.
(d) When Kyeong Jin stood there calmly when the car exploded.
(e) When Kyeong Jin meet the guy on the platform at the end of the movie(Cha Tae Hyun)
(f) Kyeong Jin spending a night in the village with Myung Woo.
(g) Kyeong Jin folding windmill to wait for Myung Woo.

Thoughts:

Windstruck kind of disappoint me because I expected it to be a funny romantic comedy with happy ending. But the movie blended perfectly with the soundtrack knocking on heaven’s door. The whole movie was sweet yet sad. Many people called this movie a sequel of My Sassy Girl. I wonder why......

Jeon Ji Hyun-Yeo Kyung Jin

“I won’t apologize to you because ‘sorry’ is not in my diction. If you want me to say sorry to you, change your name to ‘sorry’.
She acted real well in this movie as a fierce police woman. Her crying scenes were good.
Jeon Ji Hyun can act really well. I didn’t watch My Sassy Girl so this is my first time
seeing her acting. Though this is my first time seeing her acting, her acting was great.

Rating: 9.9/10

Jang Hyuk – Ko Myung Woo

“When I die, I want to be the wind.”
“I want you to apologize to me.”
This is my second time seeing Jang Hyuk acting after Please Teach Me English.
In this movie, he only appeared for 30-60 minutes the rest of the movie was concentrating on how depressed was Kyeong Jin. I think the movie’s main actress was Jeon Ji Hyun.
Jang Hyuk also acted well as she did as a shy and soft high school teacher who fell in love with a fierce and tough policewoman. There were actually not many scenes with him unless you watch the first 30-60minutes of the show and manage to catch the scene where he meets Kyeong Jin after his death.

Rating: 9.9/10

I would recommend this movie to:

If you like romantic comedy with happy endings like My Tutor Friend, then don’t go for this movie it’ll disappoint you just like what it did to me.

But, if you like series like Stairway To Heaven then you might to try watching this movie.

For fans of horror movies this is a no, no. This is no horror movie. It might disgust you with its sad and non thrilling scenes.

P.S: Towards the end only I understand why the movie was named Windstruck. Kyeong Jin was ‘windstrucked’ by Myung Woo when he came to see her after he died.
